Recovery Coach

CLASSIFICATION:  Part-time, $12 - $14 Hourly pay range

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) and includes evenings and weekends.  Length of employment is determined by available funding for projects and job performance.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Position involves providing non-clinical services intended to aid individuals in establishing and maintaining individual and family recovery from chronic and severe alcohol and other drug problems, and to improve the quality of recovery. 

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:  Must be trained as a Substance Abuse Counselor-In Training, at a minimum.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  Minimum one year demonstrated personal recovery.

 

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must establish and maintain a thorough knowledge of community AODA resources, particularly self help groups.  Must have a high level of interpersonal communication skills; must be an active listener with ability to ask probing questions.  Must be culturally competent.  Professional behavior/knowledge required for clients, treatment providers, and self-help communities.  Must possess sound judgment and a high degree of responsibility for confidential information.  Organizational and excellent computer skills.  Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

 

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.  Understand and support the mission, goals and agency-wide standards of the Hope Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse, Inc.

2.  Provide one-on-one coaching with Intoxicated Driving Program (IDP) clients in order to facilitate their recovery.

3.  Provide Telephone Monitoring and Adaptive Counseling (TMAC) to IDP clients.

4.  Provide linkages to self-help communities for IDP clients, including on-site meetings with clients at self-help meetings.

5.  Provide case management, as needed.

6.  Make referrals to appropriate personnel engaged in the self-help community/programming.

7.  Maintain working knowledge of applicable State Statutes and regulations; implement program changes as needed.

8.  Develop/maintain appropriate cooperative relationship with treatment provider community and other programs, including the self-help community.

9.  Provide drug testing of IDP clients, as needed.

10.  Perform other assessments as assigned.

11.  Perform other duties as assigned.

We have had specific requests for women, but are not limiting the opportunity.
