Recovery Coach – In this program, a Recovery Coach, using an intervention based on the SAMHSA-endorsed Telephone Monitoring and Adaptive Counseling, gives direct support to eligible clients who are interested in maintaining abstinence and transitioning to a pro-recovery lifestyle. Through regular phone calls, the Recovery Coach helps clients identify risk factors for abstinence and assists the clients in developing appropriate coping strategies. The Recovery Coach also directs the clients to long-term support systems in their community.
For clients being referred to treatment, those with two Operating While Intoxicated/Impaired (OWI) charges or more and first-time offenders with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of at least .15 as well as clients who refused a breathalyzer are given the opportunity to work with a Recovery Coach. Contact is made on a weekly basis for up to two months with contact increasing or decreasing as needed for up to two years.
