Offering hope; helping to heal

Moral Reconation Therapy

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), is an evidence-based treatment program developed in the 1980s by Dr. Greg Little and Dr. Kenneth Robinson.

The term “conation” is used to describe the conscious process of making decisions and purposeful behavior. “Reconation” is to reprogram decision-making and behavior (G. Little, K. Robinson). Through a 16-step process, individuals are challenged to identify their morals and determine where they have been destructive, oppositional, and/or injurious or even dangerous to themselves and others.

Participants work to reprogram their morals with introspection and group sharing. If participants take the therapy seriously and work hard to be successful, they will see their lives improve; relationships with themselves and others will heal; they will gain self-respect and independence; and they will decrease the behaviors that can cause them to commit crimes and spend time in jail or prison. MRT is a good option for those on probation or parole, involved in diversion programs, abusing substances, and/or who can see that their decisions are impacting their lives negatively.

Moral Reconation Therapy is offered at the Hope Council. The cost to attend is $20 per person, and each participant will be responsible for purchasing a book, which is $35. For more information on MRT please contact us at 262-658-8166 or email info@hopecouncil.org.
